A bit peeved with the Sess – Adam Sessler’s Soapbox
Okay, listen Adam, I love your blog. I love your reviews. In a purely manly and gamerly way, I love your mind. To me, you are the Face Of Gaming. Along with that Geoff Keighley fella’.
That being the fact, I don’t want you to think I’m taking a crack at you, nothing is further from the case. As I introduce some new people to your vlog, and perhaps some who already watch, I’d like you to keep in mind that I love gaming as adamantly as you seem to. I say seem because I don’t know you. But you seem to want people to see you as yourself, and it works, and it’s refreshing in a commercial media.
Quickly to the little bit of a beef I have with your video about whether or not we need new consoles, and then onto sharing that video with those who read my blog. You said “Maybe we should just stick with the same consoles and just upgrade those, swap out drives, maybe change things inside of it to keep it maturing and evolving and with the times” (forgive me for not being precise, I am paraphrasing).
Adam, what you described was a PC. Why the hell are we even buying consoles anymore? Why the hell does a cheaper and faster media box not run on my TV instead of this mind-locking device of control?
I have already gone on about the death of PC gaming and how it is being done on purpose. I put it out in appeal to shock and awe, but the logic is solid from my observational and analytical point of view.
The consoles becoming upgraded… It’s already been snuck in there a few times, hasn’t it? – PS3 is now a slim grill and the 360 has had plenty of game-ending hardware problems partially resolved and has it’s own premium editions… Don’t tell us to get further into the stock of the thing that was made to pipe out some of this market until it now completely dominates it in the media.
PC gamers are smart people, I don’t care what anyone says. Because we do more with technology than flip back to the TV when we’re done gaming. Our game console isn’t just for games. I realize that the industry we love is already all over the boxes and indeed is made of the people who wanted the market to be theirs, but as a consumer of games, I want the market on my PC. Where I ALREADY upgrade and keep with the times and have for years as I watched less people able to boot into DOS and more people able to tap 6 buttons.
Readers, enjoy this video and check out his back log archives, Adam Sessler really is an awesome guy. And Adam, thank you for the opportunity to point out how it’s just a new universe (consoles) trying to manifest within the parent one (Computers). I just happen to see possible consequences for it, that’s all.
